We warmly invite you to consider using this prayer support program in time of adversity and challenge, as well as in times of celebration and gratitude.

Prayer Chaplains provide prayer support to our members, deepen the collective consciousness of our Church and empower the unfolding of our spiritual community.

What is a Prayer Chaplain?

  • Someone who will hold spiritual space for you.
  • Someone who will lovingly listen to you.
  • Someone who will pray with you.
  • Someone who will hold what is shared in the strictest confidence

The only exception to absolute confidentiality is when a Prayer Chaplain is told of abuse or potential suicide, which must be reported to the Minister.

The Prayer Chaplain program has been taught in Unity churches for over 10 years. Our Prayer Chaplains have taken more than 30 hours of training and are committed to this program and to serving Unity of Vancouver.

Prayer Chaplains hold the spiritual space of possibility knowing that God is in charge. We invite you to tap into the exponential power of shared power.

“For where two or more are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
Matthew 18:20

Prayer Chaplains will be available at the front of the church, after Sunday services, to pray with anyone who wishes to be held in prayer. A prayer session usually lasts less than 5 minutes.

Prayer requests could include:

  • Health Issues
  • Financial problems
  • Release from worry
  • Guidance
  • Prayers for others
  • Gratitude
  • Forgiveness
  • Creative inspiration
  • Blessing new venture
  • Living with true purpose
  • Finding harmony/balance
  • Love
  • World conditions

Unlike hospital chaplains, Prayer Chaplains are not ordained, nor do they counsel, fix, or advise.

Prayer Chaplains are trained for three things: to hold spiritual space, to listen, and to pray.

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you are receiving it, and it will be yours.”
Mark 11:24

God is the source of all power, and prayer deepens our trust in God. It facilitates our ability to let go and let God be active in our lives.

“You know that there is a way out of any difficulty whatsoever, no matter what it may be, through changing your own consciousness by prayer.”
Emmet Fox

“Ask and it shall be given, seek and ye shall find, knock and the door shall be opened.”
Luke 11:9
