Spiritual   not  Religious?

Unity has no strict creed or dogma. One might describe Unity as a religious philosophy with an open end, seeking to find God’s truth in all of life, wherever it may be.

Each of us is a unique spiritual creation, a divine original with his or her own special God-given spark, capable of becoming a channel for God’s love to pour forth into the world. That is God’s plan. It is up to us to get into harmony with it.

Unity says that other spiritually illumined persons - ministers, priests, or religious teachers – can help one get started on the right path to finding God, but ultimately each person must find God individually.

Our Teachings

Unity teaches that each person is a unique expression of God created with sacred worth. Living from that awareness transforms our lives and the world.  Unity emphasizes the creative power of thought in our life experience. We refer to this as the Law of Mind Action. When we take personal responsibility to choose life-affirming thoughts, words and actions, we experience a more fulfilling and abundant life.  Unity emphasizes the importance of applying spiritual principles in our daily lives.  Unity teachings continue to evolve as we identify, embrace, and apply spiritual insights and the spiritual implications of new discoveries.

Statement for Peace

Unity stands for peace in the presence of conflict, for love in the presence of hatred; for forgiveness in the presence of injury. Unity honours the many names for God, the many paths to God, the many ways to worship God; for there is only one power and presence of God and that God loves each one of us equally. It is therefore the position of Unity to urge all nations, their leaders, and their people to turn to God by whatever  the name for guidance during these challenging times and to pursue peace, not war, for this is what honours the God of all our faith traditions. Unity stands for peace in our lifetime.

What Makes Unity Unique?

To attend Unity is to be assured that one will be kept constantly in the remembrance of his or her own inner Christ potential. This awareness, plus the practical principles for living a happy and successful life, is experienced at Sunday services and weekday classes.

Unity students are encouraged to align with the spirit of the Christ within for personal guidance and direction that will best enhance their spiritual growth. Unity provides a safe and sacred space for study, participation, fellowship, support, transformation and awakening to the joy of living in God’s world. Unity is supported by the freewill offerings of those who share its vision and has grown almost entirely by word-of-mouth with no missionaries.

Unity affirms the freedom of each individual to advance spiritually according to his or her own level of understanding. Respect for and faith in the spirit of God in every person makes it unnecessary to set down fixed creeds or impose limiting beliefs. Each individual is encouraged to follow the Unity teachings in determining personal responses in his or her life.

Yes, life can become a thrilling adventure. Unity helps us on this magnificent journey by arousing our curiosity about our spiritual nature; by telling us how to be open and receptive to our good; by helping us to learn to pray successfully; and by making God a full-time partner in our living.
