Annual Report
The Board of Directors would like to thank all of you who attended our AGM on June 26 and fill in those of you who were not able to attend. A great deal of information was shared, positive actions taken, and a feeling of goodwill prevailed throughout. Our visiting minister Dr. Nicholas Griffin, prayed us in with a wish for order and harmony, and both these benefits were manifest.
Reports from the Building Advisory Team and the Transformation Team gave us all a clearer picture of where our community is headed, and appreciation was expressed for the sharing that these reports represented; and the hard work behind them. The Search Team report noted that resumes have begun to come in for the post of Senior Minister, and that more are expected.
After a Financial Report, there was virtually unanimous support for the motion to:
1. Increase authorized financing from a total of $400,000 to $785,000 by way of a new first mortgage, and;
2. To pay off all other existing bank debt, and;
3. To agree to the following loan condition: At the 34 month juncture, if cash flow capabilities are not sufficient to maintain the mortgage, Unity of Vancouver will voluntarily list the property for sale with a reputable Realtor On the Vancouver Multiple Listing service and will sell some or all of the lands within the following eight months, ensuring an orderly payout at term end.”
Note: The above loan condition is included only to assure the lender they will not have to foreclose on the church and to assist in obtaining the best possible interest rate.
This mortgage will fund our centre’s maintenance and plans for its ongoing development over the next three to five years, including the relocation of a new permanent minister and support for them as they launch new programs.
We also held an election for two board seats as Treasurer Mike Richards’ and Director Roy Prevost’s terms were complete. Mike was thanked for his years of dedicated service. Roy ran for a second term and, after a vote by ballot, both he and Randy Purcell were elected. We are grateful to all for their willingness to serve.
The meeting was adjourned with a sense of hope, momentum and sincere appreciation for a year’s work well done.
In Loving Service,
The Board of Directors of Unity of Vancouver
